Krept & Konan – Tell Me (D-Block Europe, Ling Hussle)
Revenge Is Sweet is Krept & Konan’s second studio album, following their 2015 debut album The Long Way Home (which became the highest charting British Rap album in UK chart history after debuting at no. 2 in the official UK album charts), and their 2017 released history-making mixtapes 7 DAYS and 7 NIGHTS
Arguably Krept & Konan’s most personal project to date, Revenge is Sweet lyrically addresses the loss of Cadet and their business partner in Crepes and Cones and features a sample from the back catalogue of Reggae/Ska artist, Delroy Wilson (Konan’s father). It sees guest appearances from Stormzy, Wizkid, Tory Lanez, Headie One and more, (full tracklisting below).
“We made this album to answer a lot of things. It has the bars, the punchlines and the songs for everyone with special features. We just want the music to do the talking.” – Krept & Konan
Produced by Da Beatfreakz, ‘Tell Me’ is the third single to be released from Krept & Konan’s Revenge Is Sweet, following ‘G Love’ ft. Wizkid and ‘I Spy’ ft. Headie One and K Trap, which debuted at #18 in the UK charts on release over the summer, making it Krept & Konan’s second Top 20 single. ‘Tell Me’ features D Block Europe (whose PTSD mixtape charted top 5 in the UK album charts last month) and rising UK female songstress, Ling Hussle. The music video for ‘Tell Me’ was directed by WOWA (Hardy Caprio, Ms Banks, Russ, Lady Leshurr) and shot in London.
The release of Revenge Is Sweet and ‘Tell Me’ precedes Krept & Konan’s upcoming headline show at The O2, London on 5th December and their January 2020 ‘Revenge Is Sweet – The Tour’ live shows (see below for details/dates).
This summer saw Krept & Konan (alongside DJ Target) front the BBC Docuseries, The Rap Game, which was nominated for ‘Best Talent Show’ at The National TV Awards, and release Ban Drill (with its accompanying Rapman directed short film). Around the release of Ban Drill, Krept & Konan launched a change.org petition (asking the CPS to ‘stop silencing musicians’) and were invited by Diane Abbott MP to the Houses of Parliament to debate whether or not censoring Drill music and prosecuting Drill artists is an effective way to combat crime.
In 2017 Krept and Konan made history with 7 DAYS and 7 NIGHTS, when they became the first act ever to have two mixtapes simultaneously enter the Top 10 of the Official UK Albums chart. They’ve now notched up a #2 album, two top 10 mixtapes (with 7 DAYS now certified silver), one platinum single (Freak Of The Week ft. Jeremih), three silver singles, and a total of over half a billion streams. The past eighteen months alone has seen Krept & Konan sell out a headline show at Alexandra Palace, perform main slots at Wireless and Reading & Leeds Festivals, and successfully launch their restaurant Crepes & Cones in their native Croydon.
