What happens when you free yourself from the trappings of your everyday life in pursuit of something more?

That is exactly what Andrew Grant did at the peak of his success as one of the top club and private event deejays in the United States. As DJ Cobra, Andrew was performing close to 300 live shows a year for the better part of a decade, headlining some of the most exclusive nightclubs and coveted private events across the U.S. He was spinning events for everyone including Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian, Bill Gates and high-profile brands like Netflix, Lamborghini, Nike, HBO and ESPN. From Sundance to the Super Bowl; From the Golden Globes to the Grammys, Andrew was curating the vibe for the most exclusive events throughout North America.

From there, Andrew started diversifying and getting into other businesses as well including founding Warwick, one of the most popular nightclubs in Los Angeles for four years. On any given night at Warwick you might run into Justin Bieber, Leonardo DiCaprio or the newest social media darling.

Culture and music were shifting with the emergence of digitally produced music going mainstream, but Andrew felt that something was missing…. Pretty soon, the music Andrew was playing to entertain audiences was no longer the same type of music that had inspired him to become a DJ in the first place. Realizing he was losing his passion for spinning, Andrew decided that since he was not hearing music that was inspiring him, he decided to create the music himself.

In search of something more, Andrew retreated to his music studio and threw himself into his work. Weeks turned into months which turned into years. Not anticipating the length of time it would take him to find an authentic sound, he started to experience self-doubt and frustration while he experimented with new sounds. Pretty soon he found himself disheartened and alone…. And that is exactly when the music started to come together…

Andrew realized that “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” and what emerged was a body of deeply expressive work exploring heartbreak, loneliness, intimacy and ultimately hopefulness.
